Phase III trials are the last and final step in the approval process for a new medication or treatment. After a novel treatment or medication has been made available to the general population, phase IV trials are conducted.

Nanoencapsulation is the process of enclosing one or more substances within a protective coating of nanometer-sized particles. What is addiction?

Addiction can be defined as a chronic mental illness characterized by compulsive drug seeking and use, despite harmful consequences. It is considered a relapsing brain disease because addiction is a recurring problem even after people stop using drugs.
Addiction affects both the mind and body. Addicts lose control over their drug use and cannot resist taking the drug, even though they know it will cause them harm. Addiction changes the way the brain works, creating strong cravings for drugs that are difficult to overcome.

What are psychedelic compounds and organisms and how they work?

Psychedelic compounds are substances that alter perception, mood, and consciousness. These compounds include LSD, psilocybin (magic mushrooms), mescaline (peyote), DMT, and ayahuasca.

Psychedelics work by activating serotonin 5-HT2A receptors. Psychedelics increase the permeability of the blood-brain barrier, allowing more molecules to enter the brain. Psychedelics also activate other neurotransmitters such as dopamine and norepinephrine.

The brains default mode network is responsible for our sense of self, and it’s usually active when we’re not engaged in any specific task. What is Psilocybin?

Psilocybin is a naturally occurring psychedelic compound produced by more than 200 species of mushrooms. When ingested, psilocybin causes short-term changes in perception, mood, and thinking.

What is Ayahuasca?

Ayahuasca is a psychedelic brew made from Banisteriopsis caapi vine and Psychotria viridis leaves. The B. caapi vine contains harmala alkaloids, MAOIs (monoamine oxidase inhibitors), and P. viridis contains DMT (dimethyltryptamine), which is inactive when ingested by itself and converted to 5-MeO-DMT in the presence of the harmala alkaloids.
Ayahuasca has been used for millennia in South America as spiritual medicine in religious ceremonies. Recently, it has been gaining popularity in the Western world as a possible treatment for mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression, addiction, and PTSD.

What is Ketamine?

Ketamine is a psychedelic drug often used as a mental health treatment. It is an effective treatment for depression and has been shown to be more effective than traditional antidepressant medications. Ketamine works by blocking the NMDA receptor, which is responsible for sending signals between nerve cells in the brain. What is Dimethyltryptamine (DMT)?

There are many different anxiety disorders, but all involve excessive fear or worry that can’t be easily explained or dismissed. Symptoms can include physical symptoms like chest pain and dizziness and emotional symptoms like feelings of panic and dread.

What is Depression?

Depression is a mental illness that can make routine tasks seem impossible. It can be accompanied by feelings of sadness, emptiness, and worthlessness. People with depression may also have thoughts of suicide or death.
Depression is a common mental disorder that affects about 350 million people worldwide. It’s one of the most disabling mental disorders and is the leading cause of disability globally for people aged 15-44 years old.
Traditional treatments for depression include medication, therapy, and lifestyle changes.

What is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)?

Individuals who have witnessed or encountered a traumatic incident, such as physical or sexual assault, natural catastrophes, accidents, terrorist attacks, or war, may develop a condition called Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
People with PTSD may feel intense fear, helplessness, or horror after the event. They may have flashbacks, nightmares, and intrusive thoughts about the traumatic event. Also, common symptoms are avoidance of places or things that remind them of the event and difficulty feeling positive emotions.
PTSD can make it extremely difficult for people to function normally in their everyday lives. Current treatments available only help people manage these symptoms.
